Born and raised in Tokyo, graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at Hokkaido University. After working as a programmer during college, joined a major manufacturing equipment maker as an engineer. Later became independent as an engineer and video creator. Currently active as a VTuber primarily based on the metaverse platform "VRChat," while also having accomplishments as a world creator.
On the YouTube channel "Engine Kazumi," I share information useful for metaverse residents, mainly focused on VRChat investigations, interviews, and event introductions. A unique feature of this channel is the many segments interviewing metaverse residents in public spaces, allowing viewers to understand the "real metaverse experience" that can't be obtained through regular news.
Engine Kazumi is currently one of VRChat's leading influencers with approximately 40,000 YouTube subscribers in Japan. As a result, I receive many video project requests from companies and organizations looking to increase their visibility within VRChat. I have created report videos for worlds such as "TOKYO MOOD by BEAMS" released by BEAMS Inc., and introduction videos for official metaverse projects like "Virtual Kurayoshi" for Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture. Rather than simply introducing worlds, a characteristic of this channel is naturally featuring them within creative content. Additionally, as I hold a Master's degree in Engineering, I have served as a reporter for organizations conducting research presentations in VR.
Having interviewed over 500 people and accumulated more than 5,000 hours in VR, I am frequently invited to speak as an active metaverse participant. I have delivered special lectures such as "Introduction to the Metaverse" at Ritsumeikan University, introducing cutting-edge metaverse culture, and spoken as a guest presenter for the University of Tokyo at the Japan Virtual Reality Society about world promotion and challenges in the metaverse. I also presented a summary of my activities at the XR/Metaverse Industry Exhibition 2024 Pitch Contest hosted by Tokyo Metropolitan Government, winning 2nd place in the "Anime & Character Division."
VRChat originally had issues such as "established communities" and "difficulty in approaching others" in public spaces, causing new users to struggle making friends and eventually give up. To solve this, I created "1-on-1 Conversation World NAGiSA," which systematically forces users into one-on-one spaces. This successfully addressed the needs of metaverse residents, reaching 1 million visitors within 8 months of release and currently maintaining popularity with over 100,000 monthly visitors.
NAGiSA has already collabolated with "Metaverse Yokosuka," the official metaverse of Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and global VR headset manufacturer "PICO," demonstrating successful metaverse advertising initiatives. Additionally, in collaboration with my alma mater Hokkaido University, I produced and directed "Virtual Hokudai," Hokkaido University's officially recognized metaverse.
